From the Military to the Classroom: 3DE Teacher at Lake Worth Community High School Inspires Future Entrepreneurs

(LAKE WORTH, Fla.) — At Lake Worth Community High School, a 3DE by JA teacher is leaving an indelible mark by infusing a distinctive perspective into the classroom. Jeremy Luna, a former military veteran turned educator, is finding fulfillment in instilling principles of entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy in high school students.

Luna serves as the 9th Grade Launch Teacher for 3DE by JA, taking on the pivotal role of making the initial impression on new students within the program. In a discussion with Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches & Treasure Coast, Luna emphasized the significance of teaching skills that function as essential tools for shaping the future business professionals.

"This is laying the groundwork," Luna stated. "This is a phenomenal thing, and this is exactly what I need to be doing, because this is what our kids need."

The 3DE by JA at Lake Worth Community High School is a program designed to expose students to hands-on, project-based learning challenges presented by local and national business partners.

Cross-curricular themes and essential questions connect these challenges to instruction not only in students' 3DE elective courses but also across all core content-area classes, including English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

By offering a real-world context for learning integrated across various subjects, students can more effectively internalize knowledge and skills, applying them in their post-secondary education and/or career.

"We're shaping the mindset to be adaptable and flexible," he explained, underscoring the importance of instilling skills that will enable students to navigate a fast-paced world. "Students need to be flexible in this ever-changing world and have the skills and competencies to evolve with it."

Expressing genuine emotion, Luna shared the profound impact teaching has had on him. "It's the purpose. It's fulfilling a purpose," Luna said, visibly moved.

"I feel honored to be a part of that process for them," said Luna. The joy in his voice highlighted the teacher's commitment to guiding students toward success.
